Monkeys escape South Carolina: How 43 Primates Outsmarted Scientists!

In this little town, South Carolina, there’s an inconceivable incident that’s so close to being a real-life version of Jumanji. It was reported to me that 43 young rhesus macaques escaped from their enclosure in Yemassee and this has caused some concern for the people living there. This issue “Monkeys escape South Carolina” is being taken seriously by the people.

The condition with the escaped monkeys remains the same, to this day, as of Thursday morning. The Yemassee Police Department has given an announcement to the locals of that place to close and lock the doors of their homes after which the animals should also not be able to get in. The authorities are of the view that the message to the people should be clear and they should be wary of the monkeys and not let them come close to them, no matter how friendly they seem, and in such a situation, call 911 for help. This situation kind of went viral as even on sites like “Craigslist Myrtle Beach South Carolina” it is still being debated.

What has also been detected is that the girls are 6-7 pounds in weight and they are young and light. They are given very close attention but they will never be used for animal testing and although they are so young that they can not be infected by any disease, yet, they remain shy and reflexively šŸ˜‰members who share the same space for themself. These Macaque and Capuchin Monkeys are causing quite a stir in the area.

Monkeys escape South Carolina

The monkey holding laboratory, the cause of the problem, Alpha Genesis, had been using bait in an attempt to catch the monkeys. Nevertheless, local police are also using strategies like a thermal camera and traps. They are continuously monitoring the situation with the help of law enforcement officers, the state department of agriculture, wildlife officials and the like. The incident has even spread as far as Cheraw State Park.

What I find the most interesting is that this is not the first time something like this has happened in this area. In 2016, there were nineteen monkeys, who did not want to be used for testing, they broke into a research institution and left. The same thing happened this time, but fewer monkeys made it out of the facility and only six hours later they were caught once again.

It is worth noting that for the research on non-human primates (the work being done here) the Alpha Genesis facility’s credit is so high that it’s called “a hero” for treating medicine. The facility in question is the largest one in the country and it has 100 acres of land that is dedicated to research and breeding.

Given the fact that the circumstances are still subjected to some changes, the local authorities are doing their utmost to ensure safety for both the people and the escaped monkeys.

Are monkeys still loose in South Carolina?

I am happy about the considerable headway that has been made in the restoration activities following the recent incident at a South Carolina research facility. As per the statement by the laboratory's CEO on Sunday afternoon, twenty-five monkeys have been successfully caught and are now safely in their place. Of forty-three group numbers that had broken free from the compound, these particular animals were the remaining ones in the destination. Nevertheless, it is to be stressed that eighteen primates are still unaccounted for in the current situation. The situation is still moving forward persistently, legal experts are on alert, and the search efforts to recover the other escaped animals are in progress. The fact that this happened at the end of March also remains true.
